A hugh
productivity enhancing feature of
the Medasis software is the Case
Management window. Case
Management allows you to store
injury dates, diagnosis codes,
pre-authorizations and other
information relating to a
patients condition. You may
choose a case during charge entry
and all the dates, diagnosis and
other information will be pulled
into the current charge.
The Medasis
software allows an unlimited
number of fee schedules to be
setup by provider and insurance.
The software allows procedure
allowed amounts and percentage
schedules to be setup by
insurance. When setup these
profiles are used to warn you of
underpayments.
Account balances
are separated by patient or
insurance resonsibilty. The
patient may be sent a statement
for only those charges that are
patient responsibilty. Medasis is
flexable, you may choose to send
a statement for both insurance
and patient responsibilty
charges.
A very subtile but
very important productivity
enhancement is the ability of the
Medasis software to allow you to
enter a code in all fields such
as procedure, diagnosis,
employer. Most Windows based
systems force you to bring up a
search list every time a code in
required, this is slow and time
consuming. If you enter charges
directly from a
Encounter/Superbill form usually
all the information is available.
Our software allows a search
using F3, however if you already
have the code available you may
enter it directly. The system
will verify the code you enter to
be valid. An invalid code will
cause the field to turn red and
allow you to correct the entry.
You will note that
existing charges are shown on the
Charge Entry screen. Many people
wonder why this is. We have found
that in many large clinics many
duplicate postings are eliminated
when the operator can visually
identify that a charge has not
already been entered.
All charges may be
assigned a batch number. The end
of day charge report allows the
selection by batch so that
multiple data entry persons can
select and balance only the
charges they have entered.
The design and
layout of the charge entry window
was examined in detail to enhance
the speed at which charges may be
entered. We placed all the
information that is normally
repeated in the upper section.
Multiple line item charges may
quickly be entered using the
lower section without re-keying
the top section. The system
returns to the date field after
each line item.
We have hidden
additional data that is used less
often or defaults from Case
Management. Using the
"More" button much more
information can be entered such
as admission dates, injury dates,
narratives and more.
Medasis offers
full access to every code table
in the system such as providers,
locations and referring
physicians. We also offer the
service of importing standard
diagnosis and cpt tables
available from the AMA and
others.
